What Song Speaks to Your Soul?

Sometimes, there’s just a song that sinks deep in your chest and resonates with your soul.  It’s no secret that Zach Williams is one of my favorite artists.  But I just love his new song, Slave to Nothing!

This song just digs in by immediately creating the picture of us chained to our state of sin – all of the evils we have committed, the lies, the moral failures, the destruction, the bitterness, the unforgiveness.  We carried them with us everywhere and those sins sullied us and kept us from God.

But through Jesus, we are set free, unbound.  We can leave our old selves behind, because we are reconciled to God and washed clean by God’s grace and mercy and the blood of Jesus.

Free from my fears and the walls of this prison
I’ve been redeemed, sanctified, and forgiven
Freedom’s my name

Wow!  That line….”Freedom’s my name.”  It can really put into perspective our identities in Christ – we just have to remember who we are because of Him.

Music is an art that resonates within me.  In fact, after returning from the dentist today, I sat in my driveway just so I could listen to this song blasted up high (since my daughters and husband don’t like loud music).  I just let the lyrics, the bass line, and the guitar flow over me as I praised God and what He’s done for me.

Do you have a song that speaks to your soul?  If you do, please comment and share!  I’m always on the lookout for new and powerful music!

There are many, but one of my faves is “Even If” by MercyMe.

Oooo! I love that one, also! It reminds us of the truth that God is merciful and our Savior, even if He chooses not to grant what we have asked for.
